One of my New Year’s Resolutions was to finally move my blog to my main website. It has been hard to find the time to do this for myself. I wanted everything that I do to be in one location so that it’s easier to find. I have GREAT PLANS for 2013! But, before I move on to that, I want to celebrate 2012. If you are a current email subscriber, you have already moved with me. 🙂 You should be receiving my next post on my new blog.
So excited about the progress Dream Focus Studio has made and future plans for success. Thank you to all my clients, friends, and family who have supported my passion and purpose. I love you ALL!!! Pressing on……

I have to say that this year was my FAVORITE CHRISTMAS so far!! Being a new mommy brings all the magic and wonder of the holidays to LIFE. Even though Gabriel is too young to understand Santa Claus or any of that, he definitely knows that the family is here and there are so many fun things going on. This is Gabriel’s signature “kissy face.” He is such an affectionate little man. This is Christmas Eve:
After visiting the Grandparents, (I totally forgot to bring my camera :() We do Santa’s job for the first time. That’s Conor assembling Gabriel’s new slide. It has a basketball hoop with football and soccer made especially for little hands.
And I worked on Ginger Bread Teddy Bears for Santa. Don’t laugh at my decorating skills. ;0
Christmas Morning. Gabe sees the Sports Climber Slide thingy for the first time. He was enjoying morning milk but, he didn’t let that go for a second.
Gabriel impressed us all by making a basket and then immediately moving the counter to 2 points. How did he know to do that? Do we have a budding basketball star in our home?
He also got a new Tonka Truck from Maw Maw.
What a great Christmas!! Gabriel hasn’t stopped playing since. Thank you Santa and Rudolph and Daddy and Grandaddy and Mi Mi and Maw Maw and Grancy and Grim. This little boy is in Christmas heaven!
The family and I went to the Gruene, Texas Clay Festival about a month ago. I wanted to share some of the pics that I got while in Gruene. We actually stayed at Uncle Ian’s house in Austin and then rode into Gruene for the two days of the festival. I didn’t get many pics of the festival itself as I was too busy taking shots of my son in this beautiful backdrop of a town. (Go figure.) Here are some shots from our trip in random order. Gabe got to play with our friend’s son, Madden who is the other kiddo in pics. You will see more of him later!!
This past weekend, my cherished family went to the Cherokee Village Resort in Whitney, Texas. If you want a nice getaway that is close to Dallas (only 2 hour drive), then you MUST check it out. There is fishing, canoeing and a pavillion with games like basketball, ping-pong, horseshoes, etc. We actually had planned our wedding there but, it didn’t work out for various logistic reasons. However, the folks at Cherokee Village were nice enough to let us use our deposit towards a stay at the cabins. And I assure you this will not be our last time. We had so much fun, especially Gabriel. Ever since we went on the trip, he has a habit of bringing us his tennis shoes and grunting because he knows that he needs those to go outside.
Day one– Packing the car and ready to go.
We stopped off in Hillsboro Texas at the Capital for a rest stop. Gabriel enjoyed climbing up the steps of the capital. He does a lot of climbing these days.. 🙂
We were in room #5, Longing for the Sea. Our room was decorated with little treasures from the sea.
We let Gabriel explore the territory.
First stop, straight to the water.
Conor showed Gabriel how to skip rocks. Of course, Gabe just threw them very close to the edge but, he seemed to really enjoy it.
All sorts of interesting rocks here. This one had some neat carvings.
Then back to the cabin for nap time.
Day Two – We woke up early in the morning and went right back down to the water.
This day we find a rock with a heart in it.
Then, Gabriel had a special visit from a ladybug.
Then, we went back up to the cabin area. Gabe discovered the peacocks which were very exciting.
Then it was nap time for Gabriel, so I did some exploring on my own.
What I love about Cherokee Village is that it is a wild flower preservation. So, everywhere you go there are flowers and that brings of course…..butterflies!! I so wish I could have captured how I saw this. But, this was the best I could get.
And I found another ladybug friend. 🙂
Then, Gabriel woke up and we played in the Pavillion. There is so much to keep you busy here. I mean Gabriel really loved everything he discovered.
The Pavillion is nice and homey and perfect for socializing at night.
Here is the camp fire that we roasted marshmallows on at night. Can you believe I had a real smore for the first time in my life. I feel like I have now lived. It was AWESOME!
The end to another perfect day.
Day 3- I wanted to go explore the fields. And attempt to take some family pictures.
This was the best shot I got for our family pic. Trying to get a 13 month old to understand to look at the camera is impossible in this scenario. So, oh well, I still love it.
So, to appease myself, I did a self portrait with this awesome reindeer. Maybe I’ll use it for Christmas cards or something, who knows.
I can’t wait to go back. If you are in Whitney, you should definitely check it out.
Gabriel’s first trip to the State Fair of Texas. First stop to get some pulled pork.
He seemed to like it after a bit.
Then, for some reason Gabe got really sad. I mean, he was kinda sleepy since he didn’t dare to nap with all of this excitement happening.
So we decided to play some games. Dad won Gabriel this lemur…..
So much love!!!
We had to stop by Quiggley’s Clay House so that Conor could throw a quick pot and show some support.
Bye Bye big TEX!!!!
Gabriel is turning one year on Monday! We are all amazed at how big he is and what a personality he has developed. I have to admit that I haven’t been great at keeping track of all of his little nuances and behaviors. But, I wanted to give a good update for his birthday. Since he can not talk yet, he spends most of the time whining and pointing at everything that he wants. Its clears that he understands us because I will mention… say the kitty… and he will point at the cat. He also has this little endearing coo when he’s proud of himself or when he sees daddy or is feeling affectionate. When he is pleased with a particular food, he chews smiling with a “nom… nom… nom.” Gabriel is a very affectionate baby. He loves to be held and hugged. When he meets other people, he demands eye contact. His way of kissing is to put his head on yours covering you with lots of boogers and drool.
Gabriel loves every animal and creature that we put in front of him. He will grab the animal and squeeze it with a big hug. I have caught him on many occasions touching a stuffed animal’s nose and talking baby talk to it. One day he had them all lined up and was “talking” to each one. Speaking of stuffed animals, the most memorable one will probably always be the “Sock it to Me” Monkey. I bought this sock monkey for Conor for Valentine’s day when Gabriel was only five months old. The monkey sings Dynamite by Taio Cruz. If you don’t think you know the song, you probably do cuz they play it constantly. When Gabriel presses the little monkey’s hand, it starts dancing and so does he! His moves involve a kind of squat in a circular motion that is definitely on beat. His favorite thing to do now is walk around with one hand gripping Taio the Sock Monkey’s head and another hand squeezing the monkey’s hand which turns him on and off in typical DJ style and placing him on every surface he can find.
Feeding is another experience. Gabriel has gotten pretty picky with his palette, just like his mommy! He will want something if I’m eating it. But, he prefers to feed himself. We’ve had to appease him with foods that are self involved like fruit pouches and vegetable puffs.
He has quite a sense of humor. Things that make Gabriel giggle uncontrollably are mostly Daddy’s antics, sticking his hands in our mouth, feeding me, brushing my teeth, peek-a-boo, and chasing him around the house. I look at him and think how did I ever live without him. I can’t imagine not having this baby in my life. He drives me crazy and he makes me melt with joy. I know his Daddy feels exactly the same way. When he was born, we loved him just because. But now, we love who he IS and who he is becoming…
Happy birthday Mr. Gabriel!! Stay tuned for cake smash with Elmo and girlfriend!!
